Taking after my virtual friend Mark, I decided I would put together some of the high points of 2008 for me.
January:
I attended my first Open House at Charleston School of Law and afterwards had a great 10 mile run on Sullivan's Island. Unfortunately, ended up with shin splints that would plague me the first half of the year.
February:
The Tybee Island Half Marathon. This was a huge accomplishment, especially since 3 weeks before I had been told by an orthopaedist to burn my running shoes.
March-May:
These months were spent preparing for the Vermont Marathon and the LSAT. We also lost Jeff's grandmother, Bea, who was such an important part of the family and who we miss every day.
In April, the family participated in the Cooper River Bridge Run and I was so proud of my mother when she walked across that finish line. She's my hero!
On Memorial Day weekend, I ran my first marathon. Okay, so I walked ALOT of it, but I learned so much about myself in those 26.2 miles.
Also, while in Vermont, I got to meet Norm and Lori. Our dinner at Shelburne Farms was one of the funniest nights I've ever spent in my life. Imagine 4 drunks wandering around a high-end inn "exploring" and "ghost hunting".
June:
Taking the LSAT. I walked out of the room wondering what had just happened. It took me 2 days to even remember my name. And, you see, I don't even remember the rest of the month.
July:
The Peachtree Road Race. A 10K in hot-lanta on the 4th of July.
Heather getting baptized at the Gauntlet and coming back so fired up for God.
Beginning training with Team Tiara for the Spinx Half Marathon. What a great group of girls and guy! I made friends that I will hopefully have for a very long time!
August:
First law school application submitted to the University of Alabama.
Alabama's big victory over Clemson in the Georgia Dome. I always love when football season starts!
September:
All of our trips to Alabama and getting law school applications done. I applied to Charleston and USC.
October:
I retake the LSAT, much more comfortable this time. However, I actually did worse. Comfort does not always equal a good thing!
More football, tailgating and good friends.
I send out applications to Cumberland and Stetson.
The Spinx Half Marathon, running 13.1 miles in a pink tiara.
On October 31, I sit in on a class and tour the University of Alabama School of Law.
November:
Alabama's undefeated regular season
Application submitted to Mercer with scholarship essay.
My Open House visit to Cumberland, where it "sealed the deal" on this being a top choice for me to attend law school. And, getting to share it with Jeff, mom and Francis was great.
December:
The Kiawah Half Marathon and the weekend with Robin and Eric. It was so much fun!
Family Christmas - mischief-style
Getting my first law school decision - Accepted to Charleston!
Having dinner with dear friends that I don't get to see nearly enough!
And so, the year is coming to an end and I am so blessed. I've run 4 half marathons and one full marathon. I thank my husband who has stood by through everything and done nothing but support and encourage me. And to my mom - you are the Best!! If I could have picked my own parent, it would have been you! And to my girls - I could never have asked for better daughters than you two. Always know that I love you and am here for you. Tomorrow I will update on how I did with the goals I wrote down on 12/31 last year and then list out 2009 goals. It's sure to be a fun, exiciting, crazy year!! And, stay tuned in the coming months to find out.... where I am going to law school. Yippeee!!

Wow, that was terrific to read. What an incredible year. How many people can say they go after law school and marathoning in their lives? Well, let's see. 1 percent for the latter, so if you take a subset of that who also try to become lawyers, that must be like .0000000001 and you are in it. Great job this year and nice to have "met" you and Jeff in 2008.
