I'm gearing up for the Spinx Half Marathon in less than 2 weeks. So far, I've had 2 10 mile runs and one 12 miler. Both went really, really well and I am pumped up for the actual event. I'll be running the event in a pink foam tiara in support of Girls on the Run and my fundraising efforts for that wonderful organization. If you have daughters, sisters, or nieces, I'd encourage you to help out. Here is my fundraising page: http://www.active.com/donate/teamtiara2008/gplain I am fortunate to have Drew and Christina interested in doing the Shamrock Marathon in March, so it looks like I'll continue to have people to train with. That has helped so much through this training. Because of Jeff's schedule, I've always had to train on my own and it is amazing the difference some accountability makes.
I made it through the retest of the LSAT and had a good experience this time. No cell phones rang, we were on time and organized, had a large desk, and no one to crowd me. The only annoying thing is that the guy behind me started grunting after the break. Not sure what was going on with him, but if I hadn't been afraid of being asked to leave I would have asked him to get control of himself. I should have the results on 10/24 (the day before the half) and I've completed 5 out of 6 of my applications. So, definitely on track there.
Now, on to the topic of this post. Yep, I'm a 2 sport athlete. I said at one time I wanted to complete a duathalon (run and bike) when I turned 40. Nope - I didn't do that. Well, not yet anyway...
A few months ago, my employer started a bowling league. I was in a bowling league years ago with my former employer and had a great time. I've been there for almost 2 years now and I haven't really gotten engaged (that's fancy HR-speak for I have no work friends). I thought this would be a good opportunity to get to know some more people and maybe get "engaged". We bowled for 10 weeks and I did have a great team. Last Friday night we had our bowling party. I expected it to be somewhere fun... it was at the bowling alley and we.... bowled. How very creative. Then the climax of the evening finally arrived - time for awards. Yipppeee!! Turns out I got 2 awards. My team took first place and I ended up winning high female scratch (I learned over 10 weeks that meant without my handicap factored in) game. If I'm winning awards, this league must not exactly be PBA-quality. I'm just proud that I was able to bowl my high game without the bumpers.
So anywho, that's what is going on in my life. Now with the LSAT and applications behind me, I'll be able to keep you all wildly amused with my ramblings.
