OMG! I can't believe I've been away so long. If you follow this crazy, little blog of mine, sorry I've been MIA. Time is certainly at a premium right now. I'm less than a month away from retaking the LSAT; working on getting applications in to law schools; writing essays for possible scholarships; training for the Spinx Half Marathon; working full time; and, yes!! Football season is finally here! So, here is quick update on what's been going in my life.
Law School:
My application to Alabama has been received and is somewhat complete. I only put somewhat because the only thing missing is my October LSAT score. Once they receive that, my information will be reviewed and considered. Applications are open now for Charleston, University of SC, and Mercer. Hopefully I can get those submitted in the next couple of weeks. Mercer offers 4 scholarships for full-paid tuition and a $5,000 stipend, good for all three years. Just have to write an essay, so I'm working on that. I'm also studying for the retake of the LSAT. I firmly believe that I overworked for the June exam by taking so many practice tests (23). This time, I am taking a few and using PowerScore study materials. I've taken one practice test so far and scored a 163. If I can do that on the real deal, I'll be in great shape.
Running:
Still running strong with Team Tiara. The Half Marathon is about 7 weeks away. I've upped my training to 4 runs a week (recovery, speed, race pace, long). I actually got up at 5 this morning to meet some team members at 5:30 for 4.5 miles. The pace was fast, but I did okay. This past weekend, Jeff and I ran 6.67 miles in Mountain Brook, AL. It was a beautiful run through some residential, business, and park areas. I was able to set the pace and felt strong. I love having long runs like that. Even at the end, I felt that I could keep going and going. Speed work is definitely paying off.
Alabama Football:
Bama kicked off the season against Clemson. To live in this area (about 20 minutes from the Clemson campus), we hear their fans throw crap season after season. I have to admit before the game, I was pretty nervous, but the Tide showed up and the Tigers didn't and well... I'll let the score do the talking.
This weekend was against Tulane and it seemed that a different team showed up in Crimson. There was still a victory, but it wasn't a pretty one like the week before. Hopefully they will get it together in the next two weeks before we play Georgia, or even Arkansas for that matter.
So, that's it in a nutshell. I'm looking forward to taking the girls to Alabama this weekend and then the family beach trip the next weekend. With everything going on, I could use some R&R.
